Mercedes recalls 2013 SL models over airbag fault

Mercedes-Benz is recalling 130 SL-Class roadsters built between January 16, 2013 and April 30, 2013 over concerns that the vehicle's airbags won't fire if a very light person is in the passenger seat. The issue rests with what's called the Occupant Classification System. The OCS is a system that figures out if there's an occupant in a seat based on the amount of weight being exerted on a sensor, and will arm or disarm the airbags accordingly.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 surpasses 10 million sales

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 surpasses 10 million sales

Yet another Samsung device has joined the 10 million sales club. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 reached that feat, joining every other flagship release since the original Samsung Galaxy S launched in 2010. It's been just about two months since the Note 3 was released, which means the Galaxy Note 3 was only just shy of meeting the pace that the Galaxy S4 achieved. What does this mean? Well, phablets are popular and people want huge phones, apparently. Many folks scoffed at the idea that big phones could be popular.

Samsung announces 10 million Galaxy Note 3s shipped

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is leaving its predecessors in the dust – it sold 5 million units in the first month of availability and now a month later the number of units shipped has reached 10 million. Note that the number of sales is probably lower than the number of shipments as those are supplies sent to retailers and carriers. Still, the numbers are impressive – the original Galaxy Note took 9 months to reach 10 million units shipped and the Note II took 4 months.

Project Ara close to prototype status, and Motorola CEO suggests it could be sold through Moto Maker

When we first heard of Motorola's Project Ara, a modular phone concept that would seemingly allow folks to upgrade different components of their phone independently of others, we were a little skeptical. It isn't that we thought the idea wasn't possible — technology proves that anything is possible as each year passes us by — but we didn't wholly believe that we were close to seeing anything practical. Thankfully, Dennis Woodside assures us that isn't the case. In a Hangout session that the CEO did with prominent tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee, Woodside revealed that the team is close to producing its first prototype.

The swing is an important part of many sports, ask any golfer and they'll tell you its as much about having a perfect swing as it is about making proper contact with the ball without digging too much into the fairway. Baseball or tennis players rely on their swing too, which is why dedicated players keep on training and practising. Zepp Labs has created a nifty little device that will help players in their pursuit of a perfect swing. The Zepp 3D motion sensor is a tiny sensor that can be attached using specific mounts to baseball bats, golf clubs and tennis rackets.

United SportsCar Championship reveals four-class entry list

Bringing two racing series together is good news for racing fans, whether it's the re-merger of the IndyCar and Champ Car series, the reconciliation between the FIA and the ACO to form the World Endurance Championship or the joining of forces between Grand-Am and the American Le Mans Series. The upcoming season brings the latter two together into the newly-created United SportsCar Championship, and has left the organizers with the challenge – and us the benefit – of bringing two similar yet different pillars of American sportscar racing into one series. Does our government have too much power over our mobile and internet data?

We are communicating faster, better and more often than ever before. We can thank the internet and mobile communications for most of that, but with such power we must also be more careful. Laws on the matter are still evolving, making our internet/cellphone data the most valuable source of information for our government (and all others across the world). If you think about it, our smartphones and computers know everything about us. More so than even your spouse, sometimes.

2014 Honda Civic Natural Gas, Hybrid on sale in February

When it announced official pricing and fuel economy data for the 2014 Civic , Honda conspicuously left out any mention of the Hybrid or Natural Gas models. On its retail site, Honda still lists the 2012 model year for the Natural Gas, so we reached out to the automaker for some clarification. Due to remaining inventory of the 2012 Civic Natural Gas, the 2013 model year was mostly sold to corporate and government fleets, and the 2012 still has a $3,000 gas card incentive that was introduced in October 2012.

Whether the board of the Morgan Motor Company was justified or not in ousting its former chief executive from its ranks, you could understand that Charles Morgan might take a defiant stand. He is, after all, the grandson of the company's founder, and before the board stepped in, it was his show to run. But don't expect Charles to be starting up a rival outfit any time soon. Rumors of Charles' possible intentions emerged after he reportedly indicated that he wanted to "stay involved in the car industry". But when contacted by Autocar for comment, Charles kiboshed the idea of establishing a rival operation.

The term "app" is being thrown around a lot these days, and while initially used to describe downloadable software for smartphones and tablets, it has started to apply to software running on computers as well. While Honda might be primarily known as a manufacturer of vehicles, the Japanese company has started to take an interest in smartphones lately, and while Honda does not appear to be planning a smartphone of their own, it does appear that the company has thought about protection and have created a concept case for smartphones known as the Case N. This venture by Honda seems pretty serious, although at this point in time it is merely a concept and we doubt Honda has any plans to put it into production, and more importantly we're not sure who might need such as casing.

In fact, it was just yesterday when we talked about how researchers have managed to come up with a proof-of-concept malware that can spread through audio signals alone, putting to death the notion that a computer that is not linked to the Internet or network in any way is safe from such malicious programs. Earlier this morning, a botnet attempt managed to see the leak of over 2 million passwords that could offer access to multiple online services.

Well, we've seen reports of users having problems with Exchange being broken (kind of a big deal), and there was the whole Google Experience Launcher remaining exclusive to the Nexus 5. Well, perhaps 4.4.1 will fix some of these concerns.

The tragic death of Paul Walker in a car accident this past weekend has thrown into doubt the future of the wildly popular and profitable Fast and Furious film franchise, a series the late actor and car enthusiast played an enormous role in. Georgia Tech Unveils Tongue Driven Wheelchair For The Disabled

There are those who face extreme disability to the point where they are only able to control their wheelchair by puffing into a straw, also known as sip-and-puff where the user will be able to move and stop their wheelchairs using their breath. However over at Georgia Tech, researchers have recently found a way which could be more efficient than using straws, and this is through the use of the person's tongue. The school has developed a wearable Tongue Drive System which will allow those who are paralyzed to control their wheelchair just from their tongue, which is reportedly faster compared to using straws.

Tizen And Firefox OS Should Team Up, According To Samsung

Tizen And Firefox OS Should Team Up, According To Samsung

It is safe to say that in the smartphone platform market at the moment, the main players are probably Android, iOS, Windows Phone, and BlackBerry. There are of course other platforms out there such as Sailfish OS, Tizen, and Firefox OS. While not to say that these smaller operating systems have no chance at beating out the big guys, doing it on their own could be a long and tough journey, which is why Samsung's Chief Secretary, Wonsuk Lee, recently expressed interest in teaming up with the folks at Mozilla to bring Firefox OS and Tizen closer together.

HTC's done it again. Not resting on their laurels, it appears that HTC is once again going hard in the paint, updating their flagship smartphone — the HTC One — to the latest version of Android, leaving the other guys in the dust. Beginning today, those who purchased the HTC One Developer Edition or unlocked models can expect Android 4.4 KitKat to hit your devices in time for the holidays, complete with HTC Sense (yes, this is a good thing). It's pretty crazy when you think about it.
