US Cellular, Alltel Wireless team up to launch 'U Prepaid' service in Walmart stores

Good ol' Wally isn't a stranger when it comes to offering prepaid wireless goods within its shops, and now the retail giant's about to add yet another service to that carrier-packed inventory. Starting next month, US Cellular - in partnership with Alltel Wireless - will begin rolling out a new contract-free package dubbed "U Prepaid," which, naturally, is set to be backed by both of the aforementioned carrier's networks. The fresh U Prepaid deal will be making its way into "nearly" 500 Walmart stores across 18 US states, though there's no mention of which ones specifically.

PSA: Sunbathing in the road can yield unfortunate tan lines

PSA: Sunbathing in the road can yield unfortunate tan lines

We know rural Midwestern folks sometimes do things a little differently than their urban cousins. If you want to get a tan in the reedy areas of The Corn Belt you don't need a booth, you just lie down in your own yard. One thing you don't do when bronzing, however – even in the Midwest – is lie down in the street. That is what two unlucky girls did in Economy, Pennsylvania and when they fell asleep during their sunlight session they got run over by a car.
From what we can gather, after the girls had lain down on Donald Avenue they fell asleep, and did so not far from an intersection.

A Safe Swiss Army Knife Just for Kids

A Safe Swiss Army Knife Just for Kids

I've carried Swiss Army knives for years – I have two in my purse right now.  My daughter has been fascinated by those little knives, especially the one with the translucent green covers on my keychain.  She's been asking for her own knife since she could talk, but she had to wait until her middle school “graduation” to get one.  If you have a toddler that's fascinated with your pocket knife, you can give her one of her own that you know is safe.  ThinkGeek has the Kids Swiss Army Knife.  This is an official Victorinox toy with 6 plastic tools.  There's a spoon and fork (big enough to eat with), a saw blade and knife b

Meeting The Best Small Car Dodge Has Ever Made. Chrysler has managed an impressive turnaround since the dark days of 2009. After carpet-bombing the market with a spate of new or refreshed models, the automaker saw its retail sales jump a whopping 43 percent in 2011, helping it report a modest $183 million profit in the process. Chrysler even managed to pay out profit-sharing checks for the first time since 2005. According to Richard Cox, director of the Dodge brand, that trend hasn't slacked up in 2012. Year-to-date sales are up in the neighborhood of 40 percent.

But those gains were made largely by fluffing the pillows on old platforms.

Logitech introduces spill resistant keyboards for the feds, prevents Bauer flip-out

Logitech might be in the midst of a corporate revolution, but it still has time to produce peripherals just for the G-men (and women). The Swiss company has produced a keyboard and mouse that satisfy all TAA guidelines and, most importantly, answered "no" when asked if they are, or were ever a member of the communist party.

All.Round SLR camera is a pretty unique concept

Have you ever felt that your DSLR camera was too bulky and not flexible enough. When we say flexible, we literally mean flexible as this All.Round SLR camera concept by Arti Patel seems to suggest. The result is a camera that not only would not allow users to capture SLR quality images, but its flexible in the sense that it can be bent, twisted, and ultimately give users 360-degrees of flexibility in which they will be able to take their photographs. Described by the designer herself:.

Jaws dropped last month in Geneva when Lamborghini took the wraps off the Aventador J. Looking like the bastard love-child of an Aventador coupe and a KTM X-Bow, the Aventador J packed the same 700-horsepower V12 into a visceral roadster body. The fleeting beauty and startling reality of it, however, is that Lamborghini only made one. It reportedly sold for $2.74 million and went home from the Palexpo with an unnamed collector.

Steam for Linux is coming, and after waiting epochs what's a few more months?

It's been a long-running saga as to when Linux users will finally see some native gaming action on Steam, but according to Phoronix that happy day will likely arrive within “months.” Valve has been busily hiring Linux OpenGL boffins, including people recommended by Phoronix's founder, Michael Larabel, who certainly seems to be on the inside track. His photo above offers some proof of progress: it shows Left 4 Dead 2 running natively on Ubuntu 11.10 with AMD Catalysts drivers. Why has it taken so long since news of a Linux client was first floated back in 2010.
