The HTC One S has been rooted using the same tool that made superuser access possible on its big brother the One X. MoDaCo’s Superboot works in an identical fashion, which means it also comes with the caveat that you will need a bootloader unlocked device. As anyone who has worked with an HTC phone in a technical capacity will be aware, the manufacturer isn’t in the business of shipping devices with S-OFF as the default. Fortunately for us, HTC has been making an effort to provide official unlock tools for a large range of their devices, and the One series should be no different.
