Microsoft under investigation for violating European order

. The European Commission on Tuesday revealed its plans to launch an investigation into Microsoft's failure to comply with a 2009 browser choice ruling. The Commission believes the Redmond-based company may have failed to display an option to Windows 7 users in Europe that offered alternatives to the company's Internet Explorer Web browser. Microsoft indicated in its annual compliance report to the Commission in December 2011, however, that it was in compliance with the ruling.
