Comcast subscribers who have already received their Nexus 7 tablets or are sporting Android 4.1-powered phones should cast an eye towards Google Play for an updated version of the Xfinity TV Player app. Version 1.0.2.001 adds beta support for Jelly Bean in general and the Nexus 7 tablet specifically. It also fixes a nasty bug that would leave users stranded after upgrading their operating system, and promises a UI designed for 7-inch tablets in the next update.

The techs at Comcast must have been against a wall to get that update out; maybe one of the VP’s bought a Nexus 7 and couldn’t sift through the VOD content. Jelly bean is going to be a big operating system with the next generation of Android phones, so maybe it was good forethought that got the update done. Subscribes are sure to enjoy sifting through the mountain of VOD content looking for something to watch as well. I love streaming as an option for subscribers, but I am not a fan of sifting, so I tend to stay away from VOD content. I’ve never had too much need for it since I have been using my sling adapter to stream all my channels to my Android device. That is one very nice thing to come out of my time working at Dish, working with the Dish Remote Access app, my sling adapter let’s me stream all my live subscribed channels or recorded shows to my mobile device no matter where I am, so instead of sifting, I am watching my favorite shows.
