Well color me surprised. A recent market study reports that Nokia has become the world's top Windows Phone smartphone maker. According to Strategy Analytics, the Finnish company has climbed right to the top of the global charts for Windows Phone-based devices after introducing the line just last quarter.
Nokia dominates the category with a 33% market share with 0.9 million out of 2.7 million units shipped in fourth quarter 2011. HTC and Samsung follow the leader, but together with other phone makers, they outnumber Nokia Windows Phone smartphones two to one.
Overall, the global shipment for Microsoft OS-made phones increased by 36 percent.
