Despite the Samsung Galaxy S putting Samsung on the map in terms of Android smartphones, the Korean manufacturer didn't show a lot of love for the phone when it came to pushing out updates for the device - especially for the American variants of the device. Regardless of whether it was the fault of the carriers or Samsung, the Galaxy S was infamous for not having Android 2.2 (Froyo) for a very long time. And when the Froyo update was finally released, nobody really expected Gingerbread to be released for the Galaxy S within a reasonable time frame.
Ubergizmo, Samsung Captivate (finally) gets Android 2.3 Gingerbread
