Diesel-powered Mazda6 going racing in Grand-Am Series

Diesel-powered Mazda6 going racing in Grand-Am Series

The diesel version of the 2014 Mazda6 won't be hitting North American showrooms until the middle of next year, but we won't have to wait that long to see the car in action. Mazda will enter its midsize sedan in the new Grand-Am GX class with a Skyactiv-D clean diesel engine under the hood, and the car will make its racing debut at the Rolex 24 at Daytona on January 26. This will be the first time in the race's 60-year history that a diesel-powered car has competed in the 24-hour race.

Blizzard registers ProjectBlackstone.com domain, new game in the works?

We know that Blizzard is currently working on what they call a next-gen MMO called Project Titan, but at the same time we wouldn't be surprised if the company had more games up their sleeves, maybe Warcraft 4, an expansion for Diablo 3 and etc. At this point we're merely speculating but it seems that Blizzard has recently registered for the domain, ProjectBlackstone.com. Heading to the URL does not resolve a webpage, but that's not surprising as companies sometimes register domain names of upcoming products or terms related to their products to prevent cybersquatting.

ITC staff upholds initial ITC ruling in Samsung versus Apple case

Awhile back it was ruled by Administrative Judge Thomas Pender that Samsung was indeed in violation of four of Apple's patents, while not infringing upon two. Both Apple and Samsung requested that the ITC review the ruling, albeit for different reasons. Samsung naturally wanted the ITC to review it and hopefully rule more towards their favor, while Apple was hoping for broader sanctions. Well the ITC staff have come back with their finding and it seems like neither company got what they wanted from the review, although in this case it looks like Samsung is on the losing end.

2013 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible Decade Editions evoke retro eras

Volkswagen has introduced three special edition Beetle Convertible models to celebrate the droptop's launch. The vehicles are designed to evoke three distinct decades in American cultural history: the 1950s, the 1960s and the 1970s, says the automaker. The '50s Edition (front in the above image) is painted classic black and it arrives with a tan interior and chrome dog dish hubcaps. The '60's Edition (middle in the above image) has Denim Blue paint to remind owners of the period's blue jeans two-tone seats (Volkswagen calls them "groovy") and spoked alloy wheels.

AT&T Is Worst Rated Carrier In US

AT&T, or Ma Bell as some like to call it, has picked up yet another gong that it would definitely shun to win, which is being selected as the worst-rated carrier in the US yet again. In fact, AT&T has fallen so far behind the leading major carrier, Verizon Wireless, who actually picked up honors when it came to voice and data services, at least according to a new Consumer Reports study. The past couple of years saw AT&T arrive dead last, but you know what they say – there is a silver lining in every dark cloud, and AT&T's silver lining would be its 4G LTE network that actually proved to beat out Verizon in 2012.

Basically it asked if players were open to the idea of their friends being able to join them in a solo play mode and help them out with a mission.

2014 Kia Forte is what's cookin', good lookin'

We've said it a billion times now, but man, Kias are sure looking good these days. And under the lights of the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, we're getting our first look at the next chapter in the Korean brand's quest for beauty, the 2014 Forte sedan. We've given it a good once-over in the flesh, and honestly, it might just be the best-looking car in the C-segment class. There's a whole lot in store for the new Forte, including a choice of two four-cylinder gasoline engines: a 1.8-liter unit making 148 horsepower and 131 pound-feet of torque, and a larger, direct-injected 2.0-liter mill that cranks out 173 hp and 153 lb-ft.

The 2014 Jaguar XFR-S was considered last year, teased last week and now has been totally let loose. The most powerful sedan the company has ever made and the newest addition to its line of R-S performance cars – following the XKR-S – and we'll be getting even fewer of them than we thought. 200 had been the rumored allotment for the US, but the official word now is that we'll see just 100. Each XFR-S will use the same 5.0-liter supercharged V8 that powers the XKR-S, meaning a 40-horsepower and 41-pound-foot bump over the XFR for 550 hp and 502 lb-ft in total.

This new watch from Tokyoflash Japan seems even harder to read than normal, for me at least.  The Kisai Polygon is the newest offering, and it, like most of their watches, has a stainless steel case and clasp and an adjustable stainless band.  The watch is available in black or silver-colored, and faces are available in your choice of mirror, blue, or pink. In addition to the time, it also displays the date and has an alarm function.  The LCD display is always on, but there's an electroluminescent backlight for nighttime viewing.  Tokyoflash says it's a unisex design and will fit wrist sizes of about 4″ to about 8.3″.

Four DUNU Earphones review

After years of reviewing, I have realized an important fact: Many people either cannot afford many of the headphones/earphones I review, or even if they could, there is no way they're paying hundreds of dollars for excellent sound. I get that. But today, there so many affordable earphones available that can deliver audio which will put any free buds to shame. Plus, the choices are getting better and better every year. That's where DUNU comes in.

Whenever I see people on the street with headphones or earphones, it seems that they are either Monster Beats, or Apple's earbuds. These two models are at opposite ends of the audio spectrum.

LG will be joining the ranks of manufacturers such as Archos, Nabi, Ematic, Oregon Scientific, and Vinci – not because they have a spanking new smartphone up their sleeves, but because the South Korean consumer electronics giant is about to venture into the kids tablet market niche, where their maiden effort resulted in the LG Kids Pad that had already gone on sale in South Korea last week. The asking price was translated to roughly $276 a pop for the LG Kids Pad, which is by no means cheap, hence placing it in the more expensive rung of tablets for your little ones.

It's hard to believe, but 2013 marks the sixth model year for the Audi S5 (it launched as a 2008 model). I've loved this coupe since the day it debuted, but if I'm honest, the thing that really made the S5 special at launch was its awesome 4.2-liter naturally aspirated V8. You know, the one from the old RS4. And the R8.
Audi started building S5 Cabriolet models with a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 starting in 2010, and for 2013, that super-six is the only engine available for both models. Don't get me wrong, I like the 3.0T engine. (Oh hey, Audi, please stop calling it a 3.0T.

VW recalls 2012-2013 Beetle models with leather seats over airbags

Volkswagen is recalling 2,471 Beetle models over faulty occupant control modules in the front passenger seat. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, if the seat in certain 2012 and 2013 model year vehicles gets wet, the module may malfunction and may not detect the presence of a child restraint. If that happens, the airbag will not shut off and will deploy in the event of a collision. Such a scenario could greatly increase the risk of serious child injury.
As a remedy, Volkswagen technicians will replace the control modules free of charge.

The automaker can tease us all they want with word of a "new compact sports car," but we know what the score is: the new Cayman is on the way, and we're ready for it. That said, no one has seen what the next-generation of the sub-911 coupe looks like. that is, until now. Photos of the new Cayman, taken by Instagram user "Frod1966," have popped up online. The hardtop Porsche was photographed in a warehouse of sorts, and still has the packing wraps on the headlights and taillights.

Mercedes launches first E-Class refresh teaser

Mercedes-Benz has released its first official teaser for its updated 2014 E-Class lineup. The video focuses primarily on the headlights of the E-Class that have a new shape and will offer (at least as an option) full LED lighting including the signals, stylish running lights and adaptive high and low beams. We also note that the the current E's odd four-pod headlight design is being replaced with a more conventional design that fits in with other Mercedes models. Based on the numerous spy shots we've seen for all of the different bodystyles, the new E-Class will be getting a fresh face including a new hood, fascia and grille.
