Targets Confirms Brightspot MVNO

We reported a couple of days ago on the possibility of Target and T-Mobile teaming up to launch a new MVNO. A MVNO or Mobile Virtual Network Operator is a mobile carrier that does not own the wireless infrastructure it needs to function. Rather, it uses another carrier's network, but the MVNO sets its own prices for the cellular service. Target today formally announced the Brightspot MVNO that it is indeed launching with T-Mobile.
Target says that this new carrier “brings together mobile phone plans you want with the devices you desire.” Customers will have to go to a Target store and select the Brightspot plan as their carrier.

It was only recently that Microsoft announced their brand new Surface 2 tablet and we're sure Microsoft is hoping that with the better hardware specs and battery life that the device would be a success, or at least do better than the original Surface tablets where poor sales led to Microsoft writing off $1 billion in inventory. Well it turns out that Microsoft might be getting their wish as they have announced that pre-order stock for the Surface 2 and the Surface Pro 2 along with their accessories, like the Arc Touch Mouse Surface Edition and Type Covers, have either sold out or are coming close to being sold out.

This guy drag-racing his T-Top-equipped fourth-generation Chevrolet Camaro has no idea that it could be the end for his very precious roof - that one miscalculated move could end it all with a loud explosion and flying debris. The driver remains completely unharmed, but not everything comes away unscathed. A GoPro camera attached to the glass T-Top panel catches the mayhem in all its high-definition glory, which you can check out in the video below.

Latest Android platform numbers give Jelly Bean the clear lead, Gingerbread still kicking

Google has released the latest numbers which show us how much of the pie certain versions of Android have. These numbers are always interesting to take a look at from time to time, as they allow us to see how quickly newer versions of Android are being adopted (and how quickly older ones are dying). Unfortunately, older versions aren't anywhere near dead in this latest update. Gingerbread still controls a commanding 28.5% of the pie. It doesn't seem like good news, but considering Gingerbread held a commanding lead for well over a year it's definitely pleasant to our ears.

A new way to travel with your guitar

Travel guitars that I've seen don't look much like a regular acoustic guitar.  The ones I've seen tend to be narrow, stick-like instruments.  I'm not a musician, but it seems to me that the smaller body would negatively impact the sound produced by the guitar.  I don't know what the shortcomings of the Voyage-Air travel guitars might be, but they certainly have a normal-sized body.  Their guitars have necks that fold down so that they pack into a backpack that's easier to travel with than a full-sized guitar case would be.

Kia has been toying with the notion of an electric vehicle for years now. In the two years since the Korean automaker revealed the Ray EV concept, rumors of a battery-powered production vehicle have persisted, evidenced most recently by spy shots showing an electric version of the Soul hatchback this past July. Now Kia has officially announced that the Soul EV is heading for production. Although Kia has yet to reveal official photos or specifications, this is the first confirmation we've received that the Soul EV is indeed headed for a showroom near you.
