Pre-Release Of Facebook Home Leaked

Pre-Release Of Facebook Home Leaked

It was just last week that Facebook Home for Android was announced and was pegged for a release on the 12th of April. However thanks to the folks at MoDaCo, they have managed to get their hands on what looks like a pre-release version of Facebook Home that according to them, will play nice with a wide range of Android devices, including the Nexus 4. This is particularly interesting as officially, Facebook Home will only be compatible with 5 handsets at launch. However since this is a pre-release version, there are some things to take note of. For starters there will be several features not working/missing, such as the Chat Heads feature.

Show your Game of Thrones allegiance with the Gear4 on-ear headphones

Show your Game of Thrones allegiance with the Gear4 on-ear headphones

Now that the new Game of Thrones season has started up, I am seeing Stark vs. Lannister items pop up in different stores. My favorite is the Game of Thrones Stark and Lannister on-ear headphones by Gear4. The Stark headphones are all white with a direwolf sigil on each ear, while the Lannister headphones are red and adorned with a lion. Each folds up for portability. You can find them online for $34.99.

Nissan GT-R goes 183 mph on ice in Russia

Nissan GT-R goes 183 mph on ice in Russia

When a pair of Russian pilots wanted to set a local ice-speed record, they chose a stock Nissan GT-R for the task. Roman Rusinov, a Russian race car driver, and Andrey Leontjev, a Russian auto journalist, took Godzilla to Lake Baikal and ran it up to 294.8 kilometers per hour (182.8 miles per hour) across frozen stuff estimated to be 1.4 meters thick. While the worldwide record of 205.48 mph was set by Juha Kankkunen in a Bentley Supersports Convertible, the mark achieved by Rusinov and Leontjev establishes a new Russian record. Well done, boys.

Human Brain Can Now Control Rat's Tail

Human Brain Can Now Control Rat's Tail

You know something. The phrase "I don't give a rat's ass" might not be too accurate, considering how the rear end of a rat has a tail hanging from it, but in the near future, we might soon see a variant of that particular phrase appear. In fact, Harvard researchers have recently published in PLOS ONE that they were running experiments to study and evaluate the effectiveness of transcranial focused ultrasound being used to trigger specific actions in an animal.

Cockroach Cam: Be Very Afraid

Cockroach Cam: Be Very Afraid

Have you watched one of the latest episodes in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon for the current season. That episode saw Donatello create a cockroach cam, who eventually fell into a vat of goo in the Kraang's base, before mutating into a giant, nigh indestructible roach who has a deep seated hatred for Raphael. Well, I suppose that sounded fun in theory – the cockroach cam, but it seems as though it has been implemented in real life. Animal Planet has a new website, APL.TV, which features live feeds of all different kinds of animals, ranging from kittens to ever cute puppies, ants, whales, penguins and even cockroaches.

Canon EOS 6D Hands-On Review

Canon EOS 6D Hands-On Review

Since I'm at Imaging Week in Seoul/Korea this week, I thought that I would spend some hands-on time with the Canon EOS 6D that was announced recently. I use a Canon 50D on a daily basis, so it's nice to see how far Canon has gone since I bought the 50D back in the days. The Canon EOS 6D is quite different: it's a full-frame DSLR, which makes it a much more affordable full-frame option when compared to its EOS 5D Mark III cousin. At the same time, it integrates elements from the Canon EOS 60D when it comes to the controls and overall layout, so this makes it a DSLR worthy of attention.
